Corporate Policy and Procedures
Problem Statement
To optimize the search capabilities of their corporate policies and procedures library, Wood Group determine that their Corporate Document Management System required a revetting and rationalization of their content and a redesign of the search experience. The site needed to be user-friendly, reliable, and fast. In support of this initiative, our team was asked to conduct a substantive review of the system, redesign, and implement improvements.
Final Product
A component of the search optimization required the ability to create and preserve search criteria for frequently searched terms. Moreover, the users required the ability to create and export custom layouts of their search results to print reports.
Process
1. Analysis and User Experience Research
Our team initiated a usability study to capture user behavior, pain points, motivations, and an overall impression of the existing UI. Several paper mock-ups were constructed and a questionnaire was distributed to the user community.

The UX study we conducted, identified several gaps, opportunities for improvement, and feature bloat. As a result, the team was able to capture the development and enhancement needs.

2. Wireframe and Prototype
After prioritizing issues identified during the UX study, our team presented the usability findings to the development team during our Joint Application Design (JAD) session. We created a wireframe that we used to illustrate the impact of each of our findings. The low-fidelity prototype allowed us to formulate quick responses to known issues and helped close the communication gap.

3. A/B Testing
During A/B testing, our new design overwhelmingly became the test subject favorite.
